Description

Fireworks galaxy in HaLRGB. This image is is composed of roughly 24hrs of LRGB data and 10hrs of Ha. I blended the Ha into the RGB image with pixelmath using a continuum subtraction method. The image resolution was great making it unnecessary to do much deconvolution. I tried a new method of stretching the stars using STF stretch and blending Luminance into them to improve color; I like these stars much better than previous attempts with ArcSin stretch and Histogram transformation.

One goal of this image was to highlight the beauty of the star field. There are so many stars in the FOV that rather than try and minimize them, I decided to showcase them.

It was a struggle to get the blue color in the galaxy core. I initially color calibrated with SPCC which typically works great but it overbrighted the core and removed all blue. I ended up linear fitting to the blue channel.
